» Medical Marijuana Laws Leave Employers Dazed and Confused - It's now legal to smoke pot for medical reasons in 14 states. What does that mean for employee policy?

» MLB Accessible Website - Fans with visual impairments gain enhanced access to MLB.COM.

» Court Approves $6.2 Million Distribution in EEOC v. Sears Disability Settlement - Two hundred and thirty five former employees terminated at end of Workers’ Compensation 'Leaves of Absence' to share settlement proceeds.

» New release of a legal E-Bulletin - The bulletin analyzes a case that places limits on the time a person has to file a claim against a public entity for not building curb ramps, sidewalks and other areas according to the standards outlined in the ADAAG. Title II regulations mandate that new construction and alterations by state and local governments be designed and built to be accessible and usable by people with disabilities. The holding in this case is alarming because a plaintiff in the Fifth Circuit has only two years to file an ADA lawsuit after something is inaccessibly constructed; not when he encounters the barrier. Read the full treatment of the case .

Roundtable

» ADA/504 coordinators and those with an interest in venue accessibility: You are invited to participate in a research study analyzing risk perceptions of entertainment venue managers in accommodating patrons with disabilities. This study is being conducted by researchers at the University of South Carolina. This survey was specifically designed to learn more about accommodating patrons with disabilities in the context of entertainment venues. The purpose of this study is to determine if entertainment venue managers are concerned about the same issues that have most frequently appeared in court decisions involving performing arts centers, theaters, and other types of entertainment and sport venues. Specifically, the purpose is to investigate whether the perception of risk corresponds to the actual legal issues most frequently litigated. Your participation is entirely voluntary and your responses will be kept confidential. The survey results will not identify your venue in any way. This survey should take approximately nine minutes to complete.
